Juli, Firefly Furnishings’ owner and designer, opened up to Nicole about her style inspiration for children’s rooms – see a few tidbits from the interview below. Who is your personal style icon? (Nicole)
(Juli) Sarah Jessica Parker. She is not afraid to express herself and can be daring at times. You can just tell she has fun with fashion and style.
Where do you find design inspiration? (Nicole)
(Juli) I find design inspiration from my customers. They are so excited about creating a space for their new baby or for an older child. Decorating a child’s room is usually linked to an important milestone in a mother’s or the child’s life and it creates a lot of excitement. I just build on that excitement and from the creative ideas of parents.
What is you favorite color? (Nicole)
(Juli) I love bright colors and my favorite color right now is orange. It is a fun neutral color that brightens up a room and goes so well with so many other colors and works great for both boys and girls. It definitely makes a statement.
What brand/item are you crazy about? (Nicole)
(Juli) I love a new bedding line we recently started to carry called Whistle & Wink. It is so whimsical and fun! I love every new piece they come out with. The quality and the details are incredible. The fabrics are beautiful and all the pieces have hand quilting or appliqués. It is amazing when a line of such quality is priced affordably too!
What is your brand philosophy? (Nicole)
(Juli) Client service, quality and having fun. That’s why I chose to open a children’s furnishings store. It was difficult to find great quality products that were fun. I think a child’s room is one place where you can be super creative and think out-side of the box. It’s a room that doesn’t need to “flow” with the rest of the house but deserves to be decorated using the same high quality standards used to decorate other rooms in a home. A child’s room can be completely unique, colorful and whimsical! I only sell products that are great quality and have weeded through many manufacturers to get to the selection of beautiful, eclectic high quality products I currently offer.
